Belgian employees of Dutch retailer Laurus were today expected to undertake a full-day strike.
Staff working in Laurus warehouses and offices in Pommeroeul, Ans and Marloie are striking to try and effect an improvement in their social conditions and to protest against restructuring measures.
Workers at other branches have also indicated they plan to take strike action in coming weeks.
Management is meeting with trade unions on 4 November to discuss the issue. Last month Laurus announced it would be making 180 of its Belgian staff redundant.
