Fresh produce giant Univeg has been reacquired by its founder Hein Deprez.

The Deprez family, together with the company’s management, partnered with a consortium of European and South African families to acquire 100% of the group, it was announced today (30 July).

Deprez, who founded the company in 1987, sold a majority stake in the company to CVC Capital Partners in 2006.

He will become executive chairman of the group, while Francis Kint, CEO of Univeg’s fruit and vegetable arm, will take over as group CEO. Finance director, Koen Sticker, will take the role of CFO.

All other key management positions remain unchanged.

“The Univeg Group remains committed to its long-term growth strategy whilst continuing to refine the quality of both our produce and our services for our customers and suppliers in Europe and throughout the world,” said Deprez.
