Belgian food retailer Delhaize Group has completed its acquisition of 43 Harveys supermarkets, located in central and south Georgia and the Tallahassee, Florida area.
Delhaize said the acquisition, which was announced at the beginning of September, fills in an area where Food Lion, the company’s largest US banner, has a limited presence.
The company said the acquisition forms part of its growth strategy, by filling in and reinforcing its presence in its current geographic footprint. Harveys is now the fourth US banner of Delhaize, joining Food Lion, Hannaford and Kash n’ Karry.
Delhaize operates over 2,500 stores in eleven countries.
