John Rankin, the CEO of Boyne Valley Group, has left the Ireland-based business after a decade at the helm.

The owner of brands including Chivers jam and Lifeforce muesli refused to be drawn on reports in Ireland Rankin, chief executive since 2007, had departed amid a series of boardroom rows.

The Irish Times reported Rankin had resigned after a boardroom bust-up.

A spokesperson for Boyne Valley, which also counts products including Home Cook baking mixes and McDonnells curry sauces in its portfolio, said: “Boyne Valley wishes to announce that John Harkin has tendered his resignation as chief executive officer. Mr Harkin has been with Boyne Valley since 2007. Boyne Valley thanks Mr. Harkin for his service over that period and wishes him the best for his future career.”

Chairman Edward McCloskey, the son of the Boyne Valley founder, Malachy McCloskey, is now acting CEO. The company is set to look for a permanent successor to Rankin.
