The Brazilian subsidiary of leading Italian dairy group Parmalat has earmarked R$10m (US$3.3m) to invest in functional milk.

The company is keen to develop its functional milk range. The milk is fortified with iron, calcium or vitamins, reports Valor Economico. The products will be repackaged and targeted at upper and middle class families.

Parmalat is also investing in a marketing campaign which will continue until at least the end of the year.
