Nestlé has said that investments it has made in upgrading production in Bulgaria units reflects the importance it places on the market.
“The Bulgarian market is very important for Nestlé – as is the whole Eastern European region,” a spokesperson for the Swiss food giant told just-food.
Over the past year, the world’s largest food group has invested EUR10m (US$15.5m) to upgrade its confectionery production plant in Bulgaria.
“We have purchased new production equipment and set up a new production line for Kit-Kat Senses,” the spokesperson revealed.
Nestle Bulgaria more than doubled its pre-tax profit to EUR5.9m and aims a further 20% increase this year.
