Agribusiness giant Bunge has bought Whole Harvest Foods, a US commercial cooking oil producer, for an undisclosed sum.
"Whole Harvest Foods' patented refining process creates a host of minimally processed products that have excellent taste and texture, a long fry life and require no artificial preservatives," said Tim Gallagher, executive vice president for the oilseed value chain at Bunge's North American operations, said. "The Whole Harvest Foods products are a great addition to our product portfolio."
Whole Harvest Foods products include frying oils, pan sprays and liquid butter alternatives, and are manufactured at its vegetable oil refinery and packaging facility in Warsaw, North Carolina, and at its packaging plant in Las Vegas, Nevada. The company has around 35 employees at the two locations, and they will join Bunge.
The oil products are sold mainly to the foodservice and manufacturing sectors, though some are destined for retail, mainly via Amazon, a spokesperson said.
