UK-based Burton’s Biscuit Co. has announced CEO Ben Clarke is stepping down after seven years in the post.

Nick Field, the company’s CFO, will become CEO and assume joint leadership of the business with COO Simon Browne, Burton’s said. Field will lead on what on Burton’s called its “business transformation agenda”. Browne will “continue to lead the day-to-day operations across the commercial and supply chain”. Burton’s did not say when the leadership changes will take effect. Field and Browne will both report directly to James Lambert, who will continue as company chairman.

Earlier this month, Burton’s said earlier this month it would launch a “transformational growth plan” across its core brands, including Maryland and Jammie Dodgers, following the sale of its Cadbury biscuit licence to Mondelez International.

Reflecting on Clarke’s time at the helm, Burton’s said in a statement: “Since joining Burton’s in 2009, Ben has overseen the transformation and sale of the business to Ontario Teachers’ Pension Fund in 2013 and the successful sale of the Cadbury business to Mondelez International. He has driven the growth of brands both old and new, materially improved the company’s assets and capabilities, built a strong international platform and significantly improved earnings.”.

Burton’s, which is based in St Albans, Hertfordshire, operates manufacturing sites in Blackpool, Edinburgh, Llantarnam, and a chocolate refinery in Moreton, employing more than 2,000.
