Spanish food group Campofrio’s plant in Burgos has suffered “considerable” damage following a fire on Sunday (16 November).

The company issued a statement indicating production had been moved to other factories both in Spain and outside of the country. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. The group did not supply details of what may have caused the fire.

Campofrio said it had yet to carry out a “specific assessment of the consequences” of the blaze but it did say “the effects on the factory premises are considerable”.

“The company is committed to invest in Burgos to recover production capacity as soon as possible,” it added.
