Canada Bread Company, which is 88% owned by Maple Leaf Foods, has completed the acquisition of Quebec-based Patisserie Chevalier.


Canada Bread said that cake maker Chevalier will report into Multi-Marques – one of its subsidiaries. Financial details were not disclosed.
 
“Chevalier brings an excellent reputation for great products together with outstanding people and well-established distribution capabilities in Montreal and Quebec City, and we are very pleased to welcome Chevalier employees to the Multi-Marques and larger Canada Bread family,” said Jean-Luc Breton, general manager and vice president of Multi-Marques.


Patisserie Chevalier is the second-largest sweet goods manufacturer in Quebec and operates a facility in Shawinigan, Quebec, employing approximately 100 people. The company manufactures snack cake products under the Chevalier brand that are marketed primarily to retail customers throughout Quebec, Atlantic Canada and Ontario.
