Canadian food company George Weston has signed an agreement to acquire Quebec baker Boulangerie Gadoua.

Weston Bakeries, a division of George Weston, said that once approved, the deal would expand the distribution of Gadoua’s bakery products in Ontario and the Maritimes while complementing Weston’s presence in Quebec.

Weston said that Boulangerie Gadoua will continue to operate business-as-usual and will become a stand-alone, wholly-owned subsidiary of Weston. All of Gadoua’s current management team will continue to run the company on a day-to-day basis.

Boulangerie Gadoua operates three bakeries in Napierville, St-Thomas (Joliette) and St-Augustin (Quebec), as well as 14 distribution centres.
