Canadian food group George Weston has struck a deal to buy local “artisan” bread maker ACE Bakery.

George Weston said it would pay C$110m (US$108.4m) for the business, which it said makes artisan and European-style breads.

Galen Weston, the group’s chairman and president, said: “The ACE Bakery brand is known for its quality products and will complement our existing family of brands allowing us to better serve our customers.”
