Canadian seafood firm High Liner Foods has appointed Keith Decker to the new role of president and COO.

Decker, who has been the president and COO of High Liner Foods USA Inc since March 2008, will retain his current duties until a successor is named.

In the role, Decker will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the company from CEO Henry Demone who is remaining in his role as CEO and continue to focus on strategy and growth opportunities, the company said. The changes are effective immediately.

Decker was previously president and COO at Fishery Products International and joined High Liner Foods through its acquisition of FPI’s North American value-added food service and retail frozen seafood businesses in 2007.

“Keith has successfully led our US operations through a phase of growth previously unprecedented at High Liner Foods,” said Demone. “I am confident in Keith’s ability to assume this new role and to help lead the organisation towards its vision to become the leading frozen seafood supplier in North America.”
