The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to consume various Farmer Brand peanuts as they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.
The following Farmer Brand peanuts are included in this alert:

Roasted Peanuts | 200 g | UPC 0 82312 12345 5 |
Roasted Peanuts | 400 g | UPC 0 82312 12349 3 |
The importer, Le Kiu Importing Co. Ltd., Vancouver, British Columbia is voluntarily recalling these products from the marketplace. These products have been distributed by the importer in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon.
One product, Garlic flavoured Peanuts, 180 g may have been distributed nationally.
Food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria may not look or smell spoiled. Consumers should dispose of remaining product immediately. The products should not be consumed by humans or animals. Common symptoms of Salmonella infection are nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea although more serious consequences are possible.
There have been several reported Salmonella illnesses in Canada. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is investigating any possible links to these products and is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
