Maple Leaf Foods is to close a meat processing plant in Ontario, the Canadian company has announced.
The group, which also has operations in the US, the UK and Asia, plans to shut a “secondary processing facility” in the town of Etobicoke in October.
The site produces value-added red meat products primarily for the Canadian foodservice channel. Around 100 jobs could be lost.
Maple Leaf is looking to focus on the value-added meat, meals and bakery categories.
