Canadian retailer Metro Inc has completed the acquisition of Quebec supermarket chain Les Supermarchés GP.

The company, known as GP, has 15 stores in Quebec City and Eastern Quebec and generates C$300m (US$428.9m) in annual sales.

The completion, announced yesterday (28 September), was subject to the satisfaction of conditions specified in the agreement between Metro and GP.

“Metro is proud to continue the tradition of excellence that GP has upheld for the past 50 years,” president and CEO Eric La Flèche said earlier this month.
