Canadian store operator Metro has reached a long-term agreement with the 315 employees of its Montreal grocery warehouse who went on strike on 24 November.

Metro said that a settlement has been ratified, and the new collective agreement will be in force for nine years.

It said that the agreement ensured labour peace until 2015 under terms that will allow the company to remain competitive in the industry.

Metro operates a network of nearly 600 food stores under the Metro, Metro Plus, Super C, A&P, Dominion, Loeb and Food Basics banners in Québec and Ontario.
