Canadian natural products specialist Planet Organic Health Corporation has posted annual sales of C$37.7m (US$33.5m), up 39% from last year. Fourth-quarter sales rose by 19% to $10.0m.

The company’s retail chain Planet Organic Market recorded same-store sales growth of 31% in the fourth quarter. “All the sales growth at the market division was derived from same-store sales. In retail terms, that’s significant,” said the company’s co-founder and chief financial officer Darren Krissie.

Annual sales in the Planet Organic Market division reached $27.5m for the year, against $20.1m last year.

Total system sales at Sangster’s Health Centres, another retail division of the company, rose by 53% to $3.9m for the quarter, and by 49% to $15.4m for the year. Annual same-store sales were up 2% over last year. Annual sales at the company’s Trophic Canada division increased by 9% to $6.5m, the company said.

Planet Organic will report its financial results in full at the end of October.
