Lino Saputo, Jr. served as president and chief operating officer of the company’s US cheese division until 1 January of this year. The company said that since that date he has concentrated his efforts on the transition process, begun in August 2003, which would lead him to his appointment as CEO of the company. 


He takes over from company founder Lino Saputo, who will continue on as chairman of the board.
