Saputo, Canada’s largest dairy firm, has completed its acquisition of US company Alto Dairy Cooperative.
The transaction, originally announced in January, will enable Saputo to expand its cheese business and represents a major step in its “goal to achieve a strong presence in the US”, the company said the company.
Alto Dairy produces Italian and American-style cheeses as well as whey products, which are marketed nationwide under a number of brand names and private labels.
Saputo has two plants located in Wisconsin.
