TORONTO/CNW/ – Becky McKinnon, President and CEO of Timothy’s Coffees of the World Inc., (Timothy’s) announced today the acquisition of the mmmuffins Canada Corporation (mCC). mCC is one of the largest privately held franchise companies in Canada, represented in the marketplace by three separate retail concepts: mmmarvelous mmmuffins – mmm Specialty Bakery & Beverage Co., michel’s baguette and Muffin Break.mCC’s two key retail brands, mmmarvelous mmmuffins – mmm Specialty Bakery & Beverage Co. and michel’s baguette, are successful bakery concepts that serve over 300,000 consumers weekly in strategic high-traffic locations in shopping malls, office tower concourses and transport centres across Canada. In total, mCC operates more than 90 retail outlets across the country.

Known for the unmatched freshness of its coffee, Timothy’s custom roasts specialty coffees tailored to each store’s needs, ensuring that there is never more than 20 days between roasting and brewing the Timothy’s coffee served in the stores. mCC’s commissary will enable Timothy’s to consolidate its bakery purchases thereby ensuring the consistency and freshness of its baked goods.


The mCC mmmuffins acquisition is the latest example of Timothy’s focused expansion strategy and underscores the company’s interest in developing its profile across North America. Timothy’s recently expanded its retail network through the acquisition of 52 GrabbaJabba locations across Canada, bringing Timothy’s total retail operations in North America to more than 150 stores. The mCC acquisition brings the number of Timothy’s owned and/or operated locations to more than 240 stores, making Timothy’s the second largest Canadian-based specialty coffee chain.
