Two staff at a Loblaw warehouse in the Canadian province of Edmonton have died after an alleged knife attack.

The incident, which happened on Friday, left four other employees injured.
According to reports in Canada, the suspect, 29-year-old Jayme Pasieka, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

Canadian retail Loblaw confirmed the suspect was an employee at the grocery distribution centre but gave no indication of the possible motive for the attack.

In a statement, Loblaw said: “Friday was a tragic day at our Edmonton distribution centre. We lost friends, others were injured and our entire team was shaken. We appreciate the swift response of the Edmonton police force and the courage of colleagues who assisted in the care and safety of our co-workers. Most of all, we honour our colleagues who were injured and killed. Our thoughts are with them and their families, and our team is forever saddened.”
