Canadian food company George Weston has announced the appointment of John Cowles to the position of president of George Weston Bakeries.
In this capacity, Cowles will be responsible for guiding all aspects of the fresh bread and roll and Thomas’ businesses in the US. The businesses have brands that include Arnold, Brownberry, Dutch Country, Stroehmann, Freihofer and Thomas’ English
Muffins and Bagels.
The company said Cowles has had an extensive background in the consumer packaged goods industry, most recently with Kraft Foods, where he was the senior vice president and general manager of the beverages division.
George Weston Bakeries is a wholly-owned subsidiary of George Weston, which has baking operations in Canada and the US.
