More than 700 fishermen and fishery employees in Newfoundland are to lose their jobs because trawlers are hauling in too many of the wrong type of fish.

Fishery Products International explained that its trawlers have been catching too much American plaice when out fishing for yellow flounder. As a result it is to shutter operations at its largest plant in Marystown, after a decade that saw many employees lose work because of poor catches.
