The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Pita-Break Inc., are warning consumers with allergies to soy protein and sesame seeds not to consume Pita-Break Brand Breakfast Muesli and Multi Grain flatbreads, because they contain soy protein and sesame seeds that are not declared on the labels.
The following Pita-Break products are affected by this alert.
1.Breakfast Muesli, 450g, UPC 6 6416410011 4, All codes up to and including the code JA28.
2. Multi Grain, 450g, UPC 6 6416410002 2, All codes up to and including the code of JA28.
These product labels do not list the components of the “12 grain/seed” mix. The “12 grain/seed” mix contains cracked wheat, cracked rye, soya grits, barley grits, corn meal, millet meal, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, flax seeds, duram grits, rolled oats and cracked triticale.
Toronto, Ontario-based Pita-Break Inc. is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. They were distributed in Ontario and Quebec.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to soy protein and sesame seeds. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products.
