Spanish dairy group Corporación Alimentaria Peñasanta has developed a milk it claims will help improve digestion for children.

The company has launched the milk under its flagship Central Lechera Asturiana brand. It said the milk contains two natural fibres "that help regulate intestinal transit".

The semi-skimmed milk is targeted at children aged from three to 14.

Capsa said it had worked with SEDCA, the Spanish society for dietetics and food science, on the development of the milk.

The group already sells a functional milk containing fibre targeted at adults. It says the milk helps control cholesterol.

Last year, Capsa also launched two milk drinks aimed at athletes.
