Thailand-based food giant Charoen Pokphand Group and Australian meat company Thomas Foods International are planning into an "advanced food processing centre" in South Australia.

The location of the plant has not been revealed nor has a timetable for when production could start been announced but the companies are said to be looking to use the site to make foods to sell across Asia.

"To emphasise the scale of this agreement for us, it should be pointed out that CP Group have a reported turnover of US$43bn and employ more than 300,000 people across 17 countries," Thomas Foods CEO Darren Thomas said. "Through this new facility, South Australian food would be valued-added locally in many different formats such as further processed, cooked or meal ready solutions – then exported to Asia and other countries around the world."
