Sodiaal-owned cheese business Entremont has announced it is moving into France's frozen food sector.
Entremont, which saw volume growth of more than 15% in supermarkets last year, will next month launch seven products into the frozen category.
It said it was looking to "shake up" the frozen food segment……"breaking with the past…….making it more attractive in developing high quality products" and thus "meet the high expectations of customers for whom food is a source of pleasure and conviviality."
The range includes cheese toasts, crispy slices, comté and ham-filled soufflés and gratins.
Entremont added its diversification into savoury frozen food was "innovative" and "a timely one, given that the market is still feeling the effects of 'horsegate'".
Production will be carried out by French patisserie maker Boncolac, which became part of the group when Sodiaal acquired the 3A Co-op dairy in 2013.
