UK-based children’s food business Annabel Karmel has launched its first frozen products in the country in a bid to tap into what it said is growing demand among families for frozen options.

Four meals – fish pie, chicken, tomato and mascarpone pasta, cottage pie and a veggie bolognese –  have gone on sale at over 200 Tesco stores.  The 200g meals have an RSP of GBP2 (US$2.59).

“We know from our own market research that more families than ever relying on their freezer for extra busy days, so it was only natural to extend our ready-made solutions to more areas of the supermarket,” a spokesperson for the company said.

Annabel Karmel is developing more recipes “for wider roll-out” but the spokesperson declined to comment on the plans.

The company already sells frozen baby and toddler meals in Australia after launching the products at Coles, the country’s second-largest retailer, last year.
