US agribusiness giant Archer Daniels Midland has announced that it is building a soy processing facility in Shanhaiguan, China in partnership with Wilmar Holdings.
Once up and running, the facility will produce ADM’s soy protein concentrates, specialty soy flour for soy sauce fermentation and whole edible soybeans.
The company said the new facility would strategically enhance ADM’s position in the region.
Construction of the facility is expected to be completed by mid-2004.
ADM’s partner in the venture, Wilmar Holdings, is a Singapore-based processor, merchandiser and distributor of edible oils, oilseeds and related products.
