Changshouhua Food Co. saw its earnings climb in the first half of the year, boosted by sales of its branded corn oil products.

The Chinese manufacturer saw earnings increase 35% to CNY139.7m (US$22.8m) in the six months to the end of June. Profit from operations amounted to CNY169.8m from CNY145.1m in the prior-year period.

Changshouhua put the increase down to a 26.6% increase in sales for the firm’s branded corn oil products and an insurance pay-out from a fire accident, which occurred in November last year.

Sales in the period amounted to CNY1.46bn, an increase of 21.5% on a year earlier.
