China Food Co., the UK-listed make of Chinese cooking sauces, has opened a soya sauce factory in Shou Guang City.
The 266,666sq m CNY330m (US$48.3m) facility is the first phase of expansion, which will increase the company’s condiments production by 50,000 tonnes or 50% of its current capacity.
A further two phases are planned, adding a capacity of 50,000 tonnes each.
China Food Co. said it expects a significant proportion of the additional capacity to be taken up by its existing customer base in Shandong province and the remainder to be utilised to penetrate new geographic markets.
John McLean, chairman of China Food, said: “We are excited about the increased capacity which the new factory will give us, enabling the company to penetrate additional geographic markets in the neighbouring provinces of Shandong, and to capitalise on China’s significant economic growth.”
