FrieslandCampina has restated the importance of the Chinese market to the Dutch dairy industry which is reportedly looking to “double turnover export” into China.
CEO Cees ‘t Hart, who is also chairman of the Dutch Dairy Association (NZO) visited China last week to meet with the Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China.
FrieslandCampina said the purpose of its CEO’s trip was to “further strengthen the relationship with the Chinese authority” following a visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the Netherlands earlier in the year and “his advocacy of “increased exports of Dutch dairy products to China.”
Chinese Vice Minister Wu Qinghai said AQSIQ is willing to work closely with the NZO and FrieslandCampina to increase imports of Dutch dairy products to China, the co-op said in a statement.
FrieslandCampina appointed James Chiu, its first managing director for the Greater China area earlier this year.
“China is an important market for FrieslandCampina, especially infant milk formula. Dutch milk powder is very popular in Chinese market, such as the Friso baby formula,” a spokesperson for FrieslandCampina told just-food today.
