French retail giant Carrefour is reported to be planning to increase its presence in China.

Carrefour is planning to introduce its Champion supermarkets in China, to add to its DIA discount stores and Carrefour hypermarkets, according to the China Daily. Champion supermarkets are usually around 1000-4000 sq m in area and specialise in food, cosmetics and clothes. Carrefour is reported to be on the look out for local partners to aid the establishment of the new supermarkets.

Local partners have already been chosen in Beijing and Shanghai where the first DIA stores will open. Carrefour plans to open at least 300 DIA stores in China in the next five years.
