Scientists at the Institute of Medical Genetics, Shanghai say they chose to clone goats as their milk contains 10 times the level of Lactoperoxidase, a natural bacteria killing agent, as found in breast milk.

The institute has produced five healthy transgenic kids whose milk carries the same vital health-giving lactoferrin present in mother’s milk and now plans to use the milk to produce pharmaceuticals and ingredients for functional foods with the further production of 5000 cloned goats.
