Food manufacturer and distributor Kamboat Group has issued a profit warning, due to the impact that the SARS outbreak in Hong Kong and China’s southern Guangdong province has had on the company’s first half results.
The Hong Kong-based company said its sales in March and April were on average 30% lower than in the previous year as severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS, hit consumer sentiment.
Kamboat said its operating margins for the six-month period to April have been affected despite moves to limit the impact through cost cutting, reported Dow Jones International News.
