US burger behemoth McDonald’s is believed to be planning to open an outlet in Beijing’s international airport, according to a report in a local newspaper.

Air travellers have welcomed the news that the low-priced fastfood chain could open in the airport, as it will force the more expensive food retail outlets in the vicinity to reassess their prices.

According to airport staff, negotiations for the outlet are currently underway. Cao Runmin, real estate manager of the airport company, told China Daily that a new McDonald’s outlet could be opened by the end of this year if every thing goes smoothly.

McDonald’s opened another outlet in Shanghai Hongqiao Airport two days ago, and has reported that its first day of sales was “satisfactory”.
