Vedan International, a food seasonings maker controlled by Taiwanese conglomerate Vedan Enterprise, has said it is buying a monosodium glutamate maker and associated assets in China for 144.38m yuan (US$17.4m).

Vedan said it is buying the business from Shanghai Vedan Foods Co, but did not say if the vendor company was related to Vedan, reported Reuters.

Vedan makes seasonings and food additives, including monosodium glutamate, starch and glucose syrup, for the Chinese and Vietnamese markets.
