Arla Foods is planning to expand into Vietnam, the Scandinavian dairy giant told just-food today (18 April).

The company, which has operations in Asian markets including China and Indonesia, said that it wants to set up a base in Vietnam within months.

A spokesman for Arla said: “We don’t sell our products in Vietnam yet but we are looking at Vietnam as an export market and are looking into opportunities there.”

The spokesman could give no timetable for when the sales office would be up and running but said a further announcement should be made “within the next few months”.

Last year, Arla formed Mengniu Arla, a joint venture with China’s leading dairy group China Mengniu Dairy to serve the Chinese market.
