Denmark-based firm Danisco has secured a patent for ice cream ingredient Grindsted IcePro.


Danisco said the strong rise in the cost of dairy ingredients has made Grindsted IcePro an attractive way of controlling production costs.


Anders Wilhjelm, executive vice president of Danisco, said: “It confirms the strength and uniqueness of our Grindsted IcePro functional systems technology. This is the first of several patents around the world.”


Danisco claims that the technology will enable producers to improve the quality of ice cream by reducing fat and other solids without compromising on texture or taste.
