Duke Food Productions, the US private-label manufacturer, is to set up a plant in its second state in the country.

The company, which is based in South Carolina, has acquired a factory in the Texas city of Bonham.

“Growing our business west will increase our strategic capabilities,” Duke Food Productions CEO Andrew Smart said. “This was a natural next step for our business.”

The plant is set to open in the second quarter of next year. Duke Food Productions, which is spending US$10m on capital investment, said the move will add 200 full-time jobs at the site.

The factory will produce “many of the same ready-to-eat dips, salads, spreads, salsas, and fresh and frozen bakery products” it makes for retail and foodservice customers in the US, the group said in a statement.

Duke Food Productions is based in Greenville in South Carolina. It also said it was moving its corporate headquarters to downtown Greenville. The office is scheduled to open in January.
