Ethcl Food Labs, a German cookie dough start-up formerly trading as Oh My Dough, has acquired the Tsampa energy bar brand from Ren Roasted Energy Food.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed by Berlin-based Ethcl, which claims to be Europe’s first supplier of ready-to-eat organic cookie dough, according to a statement. The business was founded in 2018 as Oh My Dough and changed its name in April this year.

Meanwhile, the previous majority owner of the Tsampa brand, Germany’s Peppermint Holding, has taken an undisclosed stake in Ethcl. Oh My Dough’s founder and managing director Nicolas Limbrock will continue to oversee the business along with the newly-acquired brand.

Ren Roasted Energy Food was formed in 2016, and its roasted barley energy bars are based on a staple food found in Tibet known as Tsampa.

Limbrock said the combined businesses will continue to promote sustainability through better-for-you brands and he is also considering entering the plant-based category.
