Trade experts in the European Commission have decided that farmed Atlantic salmon from Norway and other countries no longer represents a threat to the EU industry.
The Commission is therefore proposing that existing anti-dumping duties on salmon from Norway should not be renewed when they expire next month and that proposed duties on salmon from the Faroes and Chile should not be imposed at present.
This decision requires approval by the 15 EU member countries before taking effect and the Commission is at present engaged in consultations prior to making a formal request to the EU council of ministers next month.
