The European Commission has said that it will complete its investigation into Rewe’s proposal to acquire the remaining 50% of Fegro-Selgros by 20 May.

The Fegro-Selgros cash-and-carry chain was co-founded by Rewe and the Otto Group in 1989, with each interest holding a 50% stake.

The German retailer now wishes to buy-out its partner. The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Rewe was unavailable for comment as just-food went to press.
