The European Commission has added two Italian products to the list of protected items (Protected Designation of Origin - PDO) that cannot be sold in the European Union (EU), unless they are produced in their home region, using traditional methods.
The European Commission has added two Italian products to the list of protected items (Protected Designation of Origin – PDO) that cannot be sold in the European Union (EU), unless they are produced in their home region, using traditional methods.
These are Tuscan olive oil (‘Tuscia’) and Genovese basil herbs (‘Basilico Genovese’). They join a list of protected EU products, now around 700 strong.
