Food giant Archer Daniels Midland has won the all-clear from the EU to buy German chocolate maker Schokinag.
The European Commission has said the deal, first announced in January, would not “significantly impede effective competition” in the European Economic Area.
Schokinag makes and distributes semi-finished cocoa and chocolate products, with a focus on industrial chocolate.
It has manufacturing sites in Germany and Belgium and sales offices in the UK and in the US.
ADM said in January that the acquisition of Schokinag would help boost the group’s presence “across the entire cocoa and chocolate value chain”.
