In a motion approved yesterday (12 March) following a debate on proposed European Commission reforms to the EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), MEPs said such a restriction was unfair.
While some large producers were profitable, the MEPs argued, others were not.
“There is no clear link between the size and wealth of a farm,” said a communiqué.
The MEPs noted that some food production required a large workforce and so limiting their subsidies would be “an unfair disadvantage”.
