Finnish food and DIY retailer Kesko today (11 September) that “no decisions” had been made on whether to take its grocery retailing business into Russia.
Reports had claimed that Kesko, which already operates in the building and home improvement trade in Russia, had drawn up plans to open food stores in the market next year.
However, a spokesperson for Kesko said the company had yet to come to any conclusion on whether to take its food business into Russia.
“Kesko Food’s opportunities for internationalisation will be actively surveyed. However, at the moment we have no news concerning our entering international markets. No decisions have been made,” the spokesperson told just-food.
