Flowers Foods, the US bakery group, has introduced two "wholesome grain" snacks under its Mrs. Freshley's brand.
The 7 Grain Cookies and 7 Grain Creme Cookies are being launched in supermarkets and convenience stores across the US. Flowers said the products targeted "on-the-go snackers and "out-the-door breakfast grabbers looking for a sweet treat with whole grains".
The company added the snacks feature rough cut whole grains for a "home-style texture".
The 7 Grain Cookies contain 12 grams of whole grains per pack and are available in 2-oz. two-count, single-serve packs.
The 7 Grain Creme Cookies are two cookies sandwiched together with a sweet, cream filling. Each creme cookie has five grams of whole grains per serving and is available in 8.5-oz, 8- count, multi-pack boxes.
Last month, Flowers reported a jump in second quarter earnings due to a lift in sales in its "expansion markets" and recently-acquired brands from the former Hostess Brands. The results coincided with the announcement of the acquisition of organic bread maker Dave's Killer Bread, which offers 17 varieties of whole-grain organic bakery products across the US and Canada.
