UK-based own-label supplier Bakkavor has confirmed the sale of a fish spreads in France to seafood specialist Alfesca.

The company said its Bakkavor Traiteur arm had become a “non-core” part of the business. A spokesman told just-food that Bakkavor Traiteur was the only unit within the company making fish-based products.

Financial details were not disclosed but Bakkavor said the deal was “not deemed to be a material disposal for the group”.

All employees at Bakkavor Traiteur have transferred to Alfesca, it added.

The spokesman said Bakkavor was not looking to sell any other businesses.
